Days 40-41

Day 40: This morning we broke camp as always.  We were suprised by having a tail Wind but we're even more suprised by the large white caps we surfed while paddling down river.  After a short 13 miles or so we met up with Colleen!  Man it was great to see her.  We loaded our stuff into her truck and headed off to her place.  When we arrived we instantly felt at home.  She made us some amazing BLT sandwiches threw our stuff in the laundry and headed out for a tour of the area.  We started with a tour of Jenkins Wisconsin.  The town she lives in.  It's a population of 10 people and filled with several beautiful 19th century buildings and a ton of Wisconsin History.  After that we saw the world's largest "M," no I'm not kidding.  It's a giant M which is for miners.  The area was apparently a big mining location way back when.  After that we took a shower and enjoyed more wonderful conversations and some of Colleen's homemade pizza!  Her husband Tom joined us after work and it was nice to talk with him too.  Oh I almost forgot the cold Spanish soup Colleen made, wow its was wonderful.

Day 41:  Today we got on the river around 9am and paddled about 28 miles.  along the way we made a make shift sail from an extra tarp and for a few seconds Amanda sailed!  It was fun although short lived.  The day ended on a cool little island which hade some very cool makeshift tables and counters on it.  This may be our second favorite campsite thus far.  The table for instance is made of an old door! Love it!  In honor of its great styles we dubbed it "River Rat Island."
