Days 33 and 34

Day 33: Today we finally got on the river.  It seems like forevery ago that we rolled into Winona.  Although it was great to see everyone and the wedding was a blast we are eager to continue our adventure.  It's odd, the way that we make plans to see people but often times it all comes down to things just working out on their own, by chance.  Those whom we spent time with today are a good example of this.  For instance it just so happened that Tom Fassbender a old friend of Dave's was available to take us to the river this morning.  It was not planned but worked out when we called him.  It was nice to catch up.  It also just so happens a former professor and friend of Dave's, Dr. Brault walks his dogs during his break at 11.  This worked perfectly and allowed the two of then to remisse about their travels on the great planes.  But the greatest example of this was running into Erin (sorry for got your last name).   As we were about to push of someone shouted "Dave Mosse?"  He turned around to see Erin walking down the street.  As with the other we talked about our lIves and how how we have changed and stayed the same.  It was great to see her.  Once back on the river it was about 1pm but still made 25 miles on the day which put use just north of La Cross at a less than ideal campsite called good enough.

Day 34:  While in Winona Josh had told us about a must visit spot called the Pettie Bone Boat Club in La Cross which allegedly served the best cheese curds he ever had!  This combined with wanting to finally meet up with John Sullivan made this stop a must.  So, last night we messaged John and set up for him to meet us there today.  It was a great visit.  We stopped and had hamburgers with cheese curds which John so kindly bought us and tale about everything river related.  Back and forth we went, trading stories of past adventures and aspirations for future ones.  It was great talking to someone who shared our passion for adventure and paddling.  Before we parted ways we took some pictures and we were off.  That night we were hard pressed to Fina an ideal campsite so settled for one which was suitable and named it, "Beaver Beach". Another day on the river and boy it feels good.
